About The Founder of Hmmi Rugs
My name is Samrae , Founder of HMMI Rugs Cooperative.
I was born in Morocco and grew up in Italy, where I later studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Verona. My background blends North African heritage with European design education, and this dual perspective deeply shapes my vision.
Inspired by the strength and talent of Berber women, I created this cooperative to preserve traditional weaving while offering dignified work opportunities to artisans in the Atlas Mountains.
Each rug is more than a product, it’s a story of identity, resilience, and beauty, made knot by knot with natural materials.
With HMMI Rugs, I aim to connect ancestral art with the global design world, through sustainable, ethical, and meaningful creations.
